It’s been one of those busy weeks where music ends up becoming the best part of the day. For me, that album was “Silhouettes” by the amazing band Youth in Government. I had it playing through my home speakers, my headphones, in the car and even while writing this review. If an album keeps finding its way back into my day like that, it’s doing something right.
I won’t waste your time, so let’s talk about it. Once you hit play, you’re pulled into a dreamy atmosphere that stays with you from start to end. The vocals mesh perfectly with the music while the guitars keep delivering moments that stick with you. The melodies are the real reason I kept replaying this album. Hours later, I was still catching myself thinking about the choruses.
For me, this album works best during late nights drives or quiet evenings at home. The sound of this band is unique and everything builds around you in a smooth way which makes the whole album easy to sink into without becoming boring at all. I really loved this band’s energy and passion. You can tell they care about every detail and that passion comes through across the record. The mix is balanced and the production is professional without taking attention away from the vocals and lyrics.
After spending so much time with this album, I honestly can’t pick a favorite track. Every time I thought I had one, another song pulled me back in. That’s probably the best compliment I can give this record. Just hit play, let it run from start to finish and enjoy the atmosphere. I know I’ll be coming back to this one again.
