Spinors – You loved the cage

If you’re after loud rock made with care and passion, Spinors are a band worth checking out, my friend. “You Loved the Cage” is their single and now they’re one of my favourite discoveries on Cheers To The Vikings.

The drums hit hard from the first second with loud guitars pushing forward and a bassline that gives the track a great foundation. Then the vocals join in and everything clicks. I like how the band can make this much noise without losing the melody. The verses have a heavy edge, but the chorus is where I found myself wanting to sing along.

There’s some good writing here, too. The lyrics tell a heartbreak story about two people who helped each other through difficult times, only for one to move on when life changed. It’s an interesting subject because being left behind doesn’t necessarily tell the whole story. Sometimes two people can go through the same situation and come away with completely different feelings about it. Deep, right?

The guitar work is very impressive and it’s a big part of why I enjoyed this single. The drums deserve just as much credit, holding everything together like a backbone while the guitars do their thing. And that last hook? (no more, no, no more) That’s my favourite part. I kept replaying it several times.

I can usually tell pretty quickly when a band has something I want to hear more of and Spinors caught my attention within seconds. This track is a cracking rock single with great melodies, strong playing and a chorus that keeps pulling me back. I’m looking forward to hearing more from this band.
