Los Hermanos Alcranes – Colombia Te Espera

There’s a band I’ve been listening to lately and I’ve really liked what they’re doing. Los Hermanos Alcranes are back with a new single titled “Colombia Te Espera” and it’s one of the best records I’ve heard this year.

The song is an invitation to discover Colombia (which I did back in 2017) while showing the pride the band has in its roots. It moves through the country’s cities, landscapes and musical traditions without losing its upbeat rock sound. For me, the energy is key here. The instrumentation has so much going on and it’s full of great moments. The Latin influences are amazing and sit comfortably in the sound desing which gives the track its unique character. The melodies are catchy and were a real highlight for me. I really liked the vocals too. There’s a honesty to the performance that suits a song built around sharing something important with other people.

The lyrics give the track more to say than simply asking you to visit a place. It’s about connection to home and family history, with an accordion played by Paulo Franco’s late father. Which adds a soft personal touch to the recording without taking the song away from its celebratory mood.

The production and mixing are good and the instruments, vocals and energy work well together. I’ve enjoyed listening to this band and I’m happy I had the chance to discover their music. This single gives me another reason to keep listening. It’s an easy and enjoyable listen and I would love to spend more time with Los Hermanos Alcranes and whatever they share next.
