Vancouver-based symphonic funk rock collective The Living Orchestra caught my attention with their bold new single “Animal Party”. At first, I was pulled in by how loose and lively the track sounded. It has this playful push. Like the band is enjoying every second while the instruments keep jumping around each other. The backing track is packed and little details kept showing up every time I replay the song.
By the last minute I started to understand that there is a strong message behind this record. Beneath all the energy, there’s this idea of animals carrying on without us, almost like the world resetting itself after humans stepped away from it. I liked that the band didn’t turn the message into a lecture. It stays fun on the surface while still leaving something heavier in your head afterward.
The vocals are easy to listen to and the lyrics slide smoothly with the melodies. I really enjoyed the sound design of this track. There’s a lot happening, but it stays exciting and not overcrowded.
I honestly just want to hear more from this collective. “Animal Party” surprised me in the best way because it started as a fun listen and slowly turned into something much deeper when you think about it.
