Angel Lord recently landed on my radar with her new EP “The Masquerade” and I’m honestly excited to share it. There’s something special about discovering an artist like this and getting to spend time with their music before more people catch on. It’s a 5 track release built around fakeness, lies, heartbreak, depression, and finding your way forward. You can hear those stories across the EP, and I like that the titles carry real meaning.
Two tracks had me going back again and again. “Painful” grabbed me with its chorus, haunting atmosphere, energy and strong production. It has that darker side of Angel Lord’s music that I really enjoyed. Then there’s “Villain” which opens with great drums before her vocals take over. She uses different sounds and melodies and the production and sound design give it a full and polished finish.
I really love how much care she puts into her music. Her lyrics carry so much weight and the melodies are captivating and stay with you. The instrumentation is rich and gives each track depth and so much to listen. Her style has that dark rock edge I enjoy, and she has one of the best female voices I’ve heard in this space.
If you’re into this kind of music, this release is worth hearing. I’m happy Angel Lord crossed my radar, and I’ll definitely be watching where she takes this next. I’m glad I found this EP and her music.
