Ruut – Steinway Sessions

Ruut’s new album “Steinway Sessions” is a heartfelt blend of pop and rock influences that showcases her ability to turn emotion into something beautifully musical and I love it. This album starts quietly. Like it’s waiting for you to settle down before it says anything.

“Life Is Beautiful” opens things in a soft way, just piano and her voice, nothing extra. The writing is direct. No hiding behind big lines and the delivery hits in a simple but honest way. “Year In California” keeps that same approach. There’s not much going on in the background, mostly acoustic, but it carries weight. The way she sings here is touching and she knows exactly what she wants to say.

“All Your Luck” brings in a stronger sense of melody. The piano stands out more and the chorus sticks after it ends. It’s one of those songs where you catch yourself singing a line later without trying. “From 8 To 9” and “Foolish Pride” stay close to the core of the record with honest writing and simple arrangement. She doesn’t overdo anything, and that works in her favor.

I kept going back to “House Of Fire”. There’s something about it that pulls you in again, maybe the way her voice sits over the production or how the song builds without getting loud. “Second Chance” follows with a more emotional edge. Her voice carries it well. “Anchor” closes things on a strong note. The piano and her voice match perfectly here and the melody stays with you.

The whole album leans into a warm stripped-back sound. Mostly piano, acoustic touches and a voice that is full of feeling and stays with you. The production and mixing keep everything clear without losing that close and personal atmosphere. I liked this record more the longer I sat with it. I’d keep her in rotation and see where she goes next.
