Rusty Reid – I Can See Clearly Now

It’s been almost three years since I first heard Rusty Reid, and somehow I’ve started thinking of him as one of my best musical friends, even though we’ve never actually met. His covers and original singles have a way of keeping that connection going. I was still surprised by his take on “Alchemist” and now he’s back with “I Can See Clearly Now” Johnny Nash’s amazing classic. I’ll say it plainly, Rusty nailed this one.

There’s a warmth in his voice that suits the song really well and his delivery gives the familiar melody a fresh character. I really like the guitar work here. The arrangement keeps the upbeat spirit of the original while leaving enough room for Rusty’s unique tone and sound to come through. The whole performance has a relaxed quality that makes the song easy to listen to.

And of course, the song is more than just a catchy classic. It carries that simple message of getting past the dark days and finally seeing things with a clearer outlook. That optimism is a big part of why the song has lasted this long and Rusty treats it with the right amount of care. That matters to me with covers, especially when an artist takes on a song people already know by heart. Rusty pays so much attention to the details. I think that’s why I trust his music every time I see a new release.

He has never disappointed me and I love the passion he puts into what he does. I’m already curious about what he’ll cover next.
