Jennifer Silva – Surrounded by Monsters

Jennifer Silva has been on repeat for me all week and I’ve loved spending time with her sound and energy. Her new single, “Surrounded by Monsters” is the first taste of her upcoming fifth album, and it’s a strong introduction (trust me).

Silva brings alternative rock and electronic sounds together with a dark edge running through the song. The production is professional, but it never loses the passion behind it. I really loved the sound design. The instrumental work gives the track a solid foundation without getting in the way of the vocals.

She has one of the best voices I’ve ever heard. She has a distinctive tone and I really loved the louder sections. Then the chorus arrives and gives the song a memorable moment I kept wanting to hear again. The hook stayed with me long after it ended. The melodies work well with the dark atmosphere and the lyrics look at a world weighed down by corruption, greed and people abusing their power. It’s a serious subject and Silva delivers it with conviction.

There is a lot to enjoy here, from the production to the energy she brings to the performance. You can hear how much care has gone into the song, but it still has some attitude. Jennifer Silva is a talented artist with a unique voice and I hope this single brings her the attention she deserves. I’ll be keeping an eye on what she does next.
