Over the last two weeks, I’ve been spending time with a few indie artists I’ve discovered recently and Katya Redpath has become one of my favourites. I love her music and her new album, “Time Changes Everything” has been a great discovery. With 9 tracks in total, you can hear the care that went into the production here.
The album opens with “Wake Up” a lovely opener. The gentle instrumentation gives Katya’s soft vocals space to carry the melodies and lyrics. I kept coming back to the hook and her smooth delivery works so well. She looks at truth, outside influence, and thinking for yourself. It gives the album a clear introduction without making things heavy.
“Hot Mess” was another title I loved. It brings a different energy with strong sound design and a band sound built around guitars, drums, and bass. The melodies are catchy and I enjoyed the lyrics as much as the arrangement. The contrast between these two tracks gives a good idea of the range across the album.
Katya has a voice that’s a pleasure to listen to and the memorable choruses stayed with me after the songs ended. The production is polished, but the music still sounds personal and not overworked. There’s real passion and skill in what she’s doing here. I’m happy I found her during these past couple of weeks and this release made me excited to hear what she shares next.
