Lisa Michelle Anderson – Spend A Little Time

Lisa Michelle Anderson has one of my favorite voices in country music and her new album, “Spend A Little Time” has me listening. Her previous album, “Get To Somewhere” was one of my favorite releases, so when I heard this one was out, I kept replaying it for another dose of her voice and charm. It worked. I’m enjoying her music even more now.

Like the previous album, this one is also a nine track collection. Lisa opens with “California Dreamin'” a simple song with good writing, captivating melodies and instrumentation that supports the song perfectly. Her voice is what I keep coming back to. There’s something unique and charming about the way she delivers her lyrics and makes me want to hear it again.

The title track looks at love, wondering whether spending more time with someone might have changed things, while also accepting that loving someone can mean letting them follow their own path. If I had to pick a favorite, though, I’d go with “Dance Away”. I love its soft melodies, good energy, catchy hook and the way the drums and other instruments work together. Lisa sounds confident here and her delivery suits the song so well.

Her songwriting is as impressive as her voice. I love the melodies and choruses she writes and there’s a real warmth in the way she sings. Lisa is an indie artist I honestly respect, and I mean it, and I’m already hoping there’s more music from her to hear soon.
