We’re nearly a year on from the first time we heard Sean MacLeod, and we’ve kept following his releases ever since. I’m still happy we did, so today I’m sharing his latest album “That’s When the Earth Becomes a Star”. If you enjoy melodic guitar music with different directions, there’s so much to like here.
The album brings together 10 songs, and I enjoyed the full listen. I’ve always liked how real and raw Sean’s music sounds. He doesn’t stick to one direction and that variety keeps this record interesting.
“Take Control (Don’t Let ‘Em)” gets things moving with good energy and full instrumentation. The vocals are easy to listen to and the writing has an honest touch. “Inside Out” caught my attention with its drums, strong raw vocal delivery and melodies that stay with you. “Let the Light In” has catchy melodies and a chorus that’s easy to enjoy and will get stuck in your head after your first listen.
“Who Unchained the Earth from the Sun” brings great guitar work, good writing and solid production. Sean has a distinctive voice and I’m sure you’ll love it. The title track brings another lift, with a good chorus and writing delivered with so much confidence. “I Know Not” shifts the mood a little with its nice rhythm and vocals and the instrumentation gives it its unique character.
I’ve really enjoyed Sean’s voice, songwriting, melodies and the production of this album. He keeps giving me reasons to follow what he does next and I’m sure his sound will take him far. I’ll definitely keep him on my radar.
