Born in Kyoto, Japan and now based in Oslo, Norway, Sienná caught my attention right away. I loved listening to her music again and again and after spending time with her new allbum “EMA”, I can say she is an artist worth watching. This 9 track album took me into her own world and I’m happy to share that experience here.
The opening track, “Be A Seeker, Believer” starts the album with a smooth atmosphere, strong sound design and haunting vocals. There is a lot happening in the production, but it never becomes too much. It pulled me in and made me want to hear where the album would go next. “Your Facts My Facts” brings a great beat and a hook that stayed with me. I really liked the sound design and production here. Out of the tracks I spent time with, this one was probably the easiest to get into, and honestly, it was a fun listen.
Honestly, I really enjoyed the title track too with its darker atmosphere and haunting sound design. The production is simple in places, but there is depth underneath it, and I liked that balance. EMA is an amazing album with really good music from an artist who knows her direction and takes her work seriously. There are so many small details to discover across these 9 tracks, and I enjoyed going back for another listen. Sienná has created something worth spending time with. I’ll definitely be following what she does next.
