Captains of Entropy’s new single “Infection” is honestly one of the best instrumental pieces I’ve heard this year. I didn’t need lyrics here because the music gives you so much to stay with. The trio has a sound that is playful but still controlled, and I really liked how the drums, guitars, bass, and keys work together without one instrument taking over.
The melody caught my attention from the first few seconds, but I also loved the tone and sound design. There are little details that kept me listening, especially the drums, which give the track its direction. The guitars add just enough bite. It’s a fun and easy listen, but there is enough going on to make me want to hear it again.
I enjoyed the video. Watching the band work together gives the track another side, and you can see the chemistry between them. It doesn’t come across like they are simply performing for a camera. You get a sense of three musicians enjoying what they are doing, and that matches the energy of the track.
The production and mixing are excellent and the overall quality is honestly impressive. That kept me interested right through the last note here. Everything sits where it should, and the track never loses its groove. I really liked spending time with Captains of Entropy’s music, and this masterpiece left me wanting more. This is the kind of instrumental track I can put on and simply enjoy, and I’d love to hear where this amazing band goes next.
