It’s been a long time since I heard a voice like Prem Byrne’s, a voice that grabs your attention on the first listen. His new single, “How Life Is” caught me pretty fast and a big part of that is the presence in his singing. Byrne has a rich vocal tone, but what I liked even more was the way he carries the song. His performance has a calm confidence.
The bansuri was an amazing touch. I honestly wasn’t expecting that sound in a song with this kind of setting, but it fits and adds something different to the overall vibe. The melodies are captivating and the lyrics are catchy and give the song a personal side. There’s a real honesty in the way Byrne writes about change, getting older, and the loss of freedom that can come with it. The story behind the song gives those words so much meaning. It came from watching a family member lose the ability to drive.
I liked the atmosphere here. The production is professional without taking attention away from the singing or the instruments. This is the kind of song that makes me want to hear more from an artist. I liked Byrne’s voice, his approach, and the little details he brings into the track. I can honestly say he is getting added to my favorite list for sure.
