Land Mass – Fading

Land Mass is the solo project of Greg Zucker and “Fading” is an EP that made me pay close attention to his singing and songwriting. I loved the honesty in his writing, but it was the emotion in his delivery that kept pulling me in. His voice has a rich quality and he knows how to keep it soft without losing the meaning behind the words.

The instrumentation is never quiet or empty. There are some good moments around the vocals with choruses that give each track extra lift. “Green Parakeet” was a strong opening for me because of the emotional and soft vocal performance. Then “Trojan Horses” changes the pace with more energy and I liked how many little details gave the track its unique character.

“Evader” takes a simpler approach, pairing the instrumentation with a smooth delivery and honest writing. I ended up replaying this one quite a lot. “I’ll Follow You” is a peaceful listen, with smooth sound, great guitars and some smart production ideas that keep it interesting without doing too much. I loved this song so much.

“Head On The Ground” closes the EP in a way that made sense to me. I could hear the care and emotion behind it and also across the whole project from start to end. This EP is like a personal piece of work that was worth sharing with listeners. I loved this solo project. Land Mass has impressive songwriting skills and I’m happy to keep following and supporting what Greg creates next.
