I just discovered SoundFarm and that voice from Marte B. Trolldalen, and I’m excited to share this band with the world. Their new single, “Suck It Up” caught my attention in a few seconds. It simply gets into its groove and lets the music speak. The instrumentation is great, with a rich sound behind Marte’s smooth delivery. Her performance is easy to follow, but there is enough character in it to make me stop and listen to the smaller details. The lyrics work well with the memorable melodies, and together they give the song its unique personality.
SoundFarm has a mix of rock, funk, soul and pop in their sound and this song shows that side. I also liked the way the track was recorded live. You can hear that the band is playing together like one soul and you can feel the chemistry between them. The song is about following the groove, having fun with the rhythm, and letting the lyrics come together during that process. That makes sense when you hear how easygoing the track is. The energy is nice without becoming loud and I found myself enjoying each second.
I liked this one a lot. I just found a voice and a band I want to hear more from, and I have a feeling SoundFarm could become one of my favorite names. I’m keeping an eye on them.
