I just discovered Arend West and now I can’t stop replaying his new single “Still Remains”. The songwriting is emotional and honest. The way the lyrics deal with family, memory and the difficulty of letting go of things that have stayed with you for years. The idea of separating yourself from old pain is something we really need in our lives and I liked that the song doesn’t turn that story into something overly dramatic.
The vocal delivery is one of my favorite parts here. His voice has power when the song needs it, but he also knows when to hold back. That gives the lyrics room to breathe and makes the chorus hit harder. I also really liked the production and the overall quality of the track. The instrumentation gives the song enough space to build without filling every second with sound. The mix is clean, the mastering works well and everything sits together in a way that lets the vocals and songwriting stay at the center.
“Still Remains” is a well-crafted song from an artist I’m happy I discovered. I really loved this one. It stayed with me and I’m already excited about what he does next. This is the kind of single that makes you listen again because there is always another line or musical detail that catches you.
