I hope everyone is enjoying the weekend. I have a special release for you today from No Drinks For Jimmy, a professional rock band that grabbed my attention a couple of weeks ago. After spending some time with their new single “Broken” I can see why this one stayed with me.
The band brings a strong rock energy to this track and I really liked the sound from the start. There is a lot happening in the instrumentation without making the song difficult to follow. The guitars have a full sound, while the drums give the track the push it needs. I also liked the bass work. Kurt Lobdell delivers strong vocals and the lyrics add another side to the song. “Broken” deals with hitting rock bottom and dealing with fractured relationships, which gives the track something personal underneath all that rock energy.
The production is another part I enjoyed. This is a well-crafted track, the mixing is excellent and everything sits together nicely. You can hear the passion behind the music and that matters to me when I listen to a band like this. This new single is a great listen and one of those songs that is easy to put on repeat. No Drinks For Jimmy caught my attention a few weeks ago and after hearing this one, I am happy I gave them a closer listen. I will definitely be keeping an eye on what they do next.
