C’batch became one of my favorite indie artists in the electronic scene in a short time and his new album “The Vault 4 – Cinematic” gave me another reason to keep coming back to his work. I had already listened to a few of his previous releases, so seeing a full 20 track album from him was a great surprise. Honestly, this was exactly what I needed.
There is a lot happening in this record, but he never makes it hard to listen to. The production and mixing are excellent and the sound design has a polished quality. Some tracks move slowly and keep things simple but I never found myself waiting for something to happen. There is always a small detail, a change or a moment that keeps the track moving. The atmosphere of his music is unique and the quality is impressive. For me, choosing one favorite track is almost impossible because this is a record I would rather listen to in one sitting than pick apart song by song.
I really loved spending time with this album. 20 tracks is a lot, but I enjoyed every second and never felt like it was too much. This is going to stay with me for a long time and I can’t wait to hear how it sounds through my car speakers too. I think that might be the real test.
