Ravens Beats is new to my radar, but after hearing “Trauma” I already know I want to hear more from her. I honestly loved this single more than anything else I’ve heard in the last few weeks, and a lot of that comes down to her voice and the way she uses it.
There’s a great tone in her vocals. Her delivery is smooth and confident. I also like her writing. There’s an honesty in the words that suits the subject, as the song looks at trauma and how it can stay with someone long after the experience itself. Her melodies caught my attention and I really liked the atmosphere she creates around them. The instrumental is well crafted and supports her vocals in a great way. You can hear that care in the production and I think that matters, especially for an indie artist finding her own sound.
Ravens Beats has talent and I like the direction she’s taking. This song is a strong introduction to her music, but more than that, it makes me curious about where she goes next. She’s definitely a name I’ll remember and I have a feeling she’s going to surprise us with what comes next. This is the kind of first listen that makes you want to keep an artist on your radar.
