Yung Yuee’s new single “The Real Yuee” is a heavy song and there is weight behind it. You can hear that this one is personal. The lyrics are honest and strong, touching on a rough period in his life when he was dealing with a mental breakdown, problems with friends and love and questions about who he was while trying to find himself. That gives the track weight without making it hard to listen to.
Yuee has put care into this record. The production and mixing are excellent and the instrumental is well crafted with a beat that gives him room to work. His flow is dope, but I like how smooth and confident his delivery stays. He has a great voice for this style and he put so much passion into the recording.
There is a bit of dark humor around the project and music video which fits with the bigger idea behind it. This song is the opening chapter of his world, but it still works on its own as a personal rap record. It was recorded only a week before the shooting that changed Yuee’s life, making it one of his last recordings with his original voice.
I like this track because it does not hide where it came from. You can hear the care behind it and that makes me want to hear where Yung Yuee takes his music next. He is definitely an artist to keep your eyes on.
