John Smyths is back with a new single and I’m super excited to share “Those Bones of Mine” with the world. I’ve followed his music for a while, so hearing him come back with a song like this is something I was looking forward to. John has one of those voices that fits country music so well. His delivery is strong but he never loses the meaning behind the words. You can hear the experience in the way he handles each line and that matters on a song this personal. “Those Bones of Mine” looks at where he has been, what he has become and the feeling that his story is still moving forward. That honesty gives the songwriting its weight without making the song hard to connect with.
I really loved the chorus. It stays with you and the melody has enough depth to keep pulling you back. I also liked the overall sound, especially the way the band behind him and instrumentation sit together. The production is professional, the mixing is balanced and the mastering gives the track a finished sound without taking away from the music. There’s a great confidence here that made me want to hear it again. John Smyths really knows what he is doing and years of experience come through in both his vocals and songwriting. For me, this is a great listen from an artist who still has so much to say and I’m happy to hear him back with another song.
