The two-song release from the Canadian indie artist Bleach Dreamer featuring the captivating vocals of Niki Grossi is one of the best releases I’ve heard in months. “Girl’s Night” opens with “Hits Me Like a Thunder” and it shows how much care went into these songs. There’s a lot of emotion sitting underneath Niki’s vocals while the harmonies add another layer without getting in the way. The drum work is spot on and I really liked the synths here. The vocal hook stays with you and the whole track is an easy listen with sound design that keeps everything in place.
“Hold On” takes the second spot and brings more sounds and instrumentation into the picture. Niki’s delivery works especially well here. She knows this style and there’s a confidence in the way she handles the song. The track is about staying connected when a relationship gets tested which gives the performance a little more weight without making it too heavy.
Bleach Dreamer is a professional indie artist and his music is polished and driven by passion. His production, mixing and sound design show how well he understands dream pop and these old school electronic influences. You can hear the passion in his work. I really liked the atmosphere across this release and the care behind every detail. This is an artist I want to keep on my radar for the next couple of years. More is coming. I have a feeling there are many surprises still coming from this name.
