Cam Cole just landed on my radar with his new single “Get Up Ya Honky Tonk” released today. I have a feeling many people are going to enjoy this one as much as I did. It didn’t take long to see why he’s built such a loyal following because this track has the kind of energy that grabs your attention from the first few seconds.
The sound design is creative but it’s the way everything works together that kept me listening. The guitars are loud, the drums hit hard and the vocals sit perfectly behind the instruments in the mix, giving the song a strong and powerful character. The production is polished but it never cleans away the raw edge that gives his performance its identity.
Cam Cole mixes blues and rock in a way that sounds honest and unique. The melodies are memorable and the lyrics add another reason to keep coming back. I really like how every part has its place and that balance lets the track breathe while keeping its drive from start to end.
This is my first time hearing his music, but it definitely won’t be the last. If this single is a small taste of what’s coming on his next album. I’m looking forward to hearing where he takes things next. I had a great time with this one and I’ll be keeping an eye out for every new release from here on.
