DownTown Mystic is back with “Mystic Highway Road Trip” and this time I have to admit he has earned a place on my personal favorites list. I’ve enjoyed his previous releases and this EP reminds me why I keep coming back whenever something new arrives. It keeps the same spirit while giving me another collection of songs I honestly had a great time with.
Nothing here tries to change what already works. The EP is packed with life, solid rock energy and those classic touches that remind me of the artists many of us grew up hearing through old speakers and worn-out music players. You can hear years of experience behind every song. The melodies are strong and the lyrics are easy to follow without losing their meaning. Each track brings a slightly different rhythm but the heart of the record stays the same all the way through. The guitars were one of my favorite parts here, the drums fit every song perfectly and the production keeps everything clean while letting the raw rock sound stay in front and not covering it up.
I also liked that some songs carry hopeful ideas without sounding forced giving the EP another reason to revisit it. Sitting down with this release was an easy way to spend my time and I enjoyed his voice and performance just as much as I always do. For me, this EP is another strong chapter from an artist who continues to make the kind of rock I never get tired of hearing.
