Sometimes all you need is a good songwriter with a great voice to spend a few minutes with and Esteban Obando delivers exactly that on his new single “Montreal (Feeling it All)”. The song is simple and lets the songwriting do the work and that’s what pulled me in.
Obando has a warm vocal tone and his delivery is smooth and easy to listen to. There’s something memorable about the way he sings and it fits the song perfectly. The lyrics are about memories and nostalgia connected to his years in Montreal. The melodies are soft, captivating and make everything flow perfectly. I liked the production and mixing. The lo-fi guitar caught my attention and the simple sound design creates a warm atmosphere that gives the song its unique character. I like how every instrument has its place and I love how the whole arrangement works in a great way.
Esteban recorded and performed everything himself which makes the result even more rewarding, but even without that detail, the music speaks for itself. This is a great debut that reminds me how effective simple songwriting can be when it’s backed by a strong voice and good ideas. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye on Esteban Obando’s future releases because this is a promising start that left me wanting to hear much more.
