Hey everyone! I’m honestly running out of words to describe how much I enjoyed Nancy Carey Johnson’s new EP. I spent one of the nicest evenings with my wife, sitting in a quiet place with a warm light around us, letting these songs play without any distractions. It turned into one of those listening sessions we’ll remember for a long time.
“Guano Loco” gets things going with a lively acoustic guitar, catchy vocals and a tone that immediately pulled me in. The title track “Shine Your Light” became my wife’s favorite. She asked me to replay it more than once because she loved its soft melodies, heartfelt writing and gentle singing. I completely agreed. I really love how everything came together in such a simple way and the music carried a hopeful message.
As you all know, I always like keeping my reviews personal, so I have to mention “She Let Him Go”. I’m still replaying it while writing these words. The tempo, melody, raw performance, arrangement and clean production are exactly the kind of music I can spend hours enjoying. The chorus stayed with me almost instantly and I really love it.
The last one is “Take Me To The River” and that was the moment I smiled. Nancy’s vocal tone fits this style perfectly and you can hear years of experience behind every line she sings. I truly enjoyed every minute with this EP. Nancy has real talent, writes with honesty and deserves many more listeners. I’ll gladly keep following her music because I already can’t wait to hear what comes next.
