Hollow Shift are back with a new 3-track EP called “WAR” and it was an amazing ride from start to finish. The release looks at conflict from different angles whether it’s something happening inside us or the divisions we see around the world. It never forgets to put the music first and that’s what kept me listening.
The EP opens with “Hephaestus” and it immediately sets the tone. Jessica Bell delivers a strong vocal performance, especially during the chorus which became my favorite part of the song. The sound design is well done, the instrumentation has plenty going on and everything fits together perfectly.
Next comes “Nothing Dies Quietly” and I honestly enjoyed this one a lot. The electronic sound works really well with the smooth beats while the production keeps things interesting from beginning to end. The vocal hook is catchy and stayed with me long after the track finished. The closing track, “Frequencies Will Stumble” is the right way to end the EP. It brings memorable vocals, solid instrumental work and professional production that gives the song a strong finish without losing the mood built by the first two tracks.
It’s easy to hear that this band cares about what they create. Every track sounds thoughtfully put together and the quality stays high across the whole release. I came away impressed by this EP and I’ll definitely be keeping Hollow Shift on my radar over the next few months. They’ve made something that deserves attention and I’m already looking forward to hearing what comes next.
