I found Night Wolf back in February through his track “Death of the Wolf” and since then I’ve kept an eye on whatever he puts out next. The UK producer and sound designer is back again with “Kickback” this time working with The Fods, and I honestly think this collaboration works really well from the start.
I always enjoy how much attention this producer gives to sound design. Even when the track goes into softer or more relaxed moments, there’s still detail sitting in the background. The track mixes darker tones with catchy melodies in a way that kept me interested the whole time. The strings were probably my favorite part. They add a lot, to be honest.
The Fods also brought a lot to this release. The vocals and melodies stayed in my head after the song ended and the lyrics fit the mood perfectly. I liked how the band handled the instruments too. Everything sounded locked in together. The overall quality is really solid.
I really enjoyed the mix of styles. You can hear different influences moving around the track, but it still sounds connected and easy to sit with. It’s well crafted, catchy, and honest about what it wants to be. I love what Night Wolf is building as a producer, and The Fods sounded just as professional alongside him. I’d like to hear more collaborations between them because this one stayed with me longer than I expected.
