I really enjoyed listening to LEIANNA’s song “SAILS” from her new EP. The whole EP is great, but this was the track that stayed with me the longest. I kept replaying it during the week, mostly late at night with headphones on, catching little details in the melodies that kept pulling me back in again. There’s something warm about the atmosphere of the song that made it easy to sit with for a while without getting tired of it. I think this is one of the best records I’ve heard this month.
Her singing was my favorite part. She has a strong voice, but what I liked more was the way she delivered every line. You can hear how connected she is to the music and lyrics, especially in the chorus where the song opens up a bit more. The lyrics and melodies kept my attention the whole time and I liked how the track mixes different sides of her style together without sounding messy.
The production deserves credit here. You can notice that everything sounds clean and professional, but it still keeps that live-band spirit in her music. The song was recorded with musicians playing together in real time which makes a lot of sense once you hear it. It gives the track a movement that worked really well for me.
I ended up loving both this song and the EP as a whole. This Australian artist sounds passionate about her work and this song made me want to hear where she goes next. I’d honestly love to write more about her music in the future.
