If you’re a fan of blues, Americana or any type of classic folk or rock or you know what, any genre, even if you like only death metal, it doesn’t matter, I’ve something special for you. Robert J. Hunter’s new single “Loser” caught me off guard in the best way.
This artist is special. The first time I heard him. I really wasn’t expecting to get attached to his voice this much. But after one listen I got it. There’s something unique and passionate about the way he delivers the lyrics. You can hear the emotion right away. Especially in the chorus which stayed in my head long after the song ended.
The melodies are catchy and the atmosphere is warm. I also loved the production here. Everything sounds alive and the energy behind the record keeps building as the song moves forward. The instrumentation gives the song a strong backbone and supports his vocals perfectly.
The song also has strong songwriting behind it. There’s a personal side to the lyrics about doubt and acceptance. Robert honestly has one of the best voices I’ve heard in months. I loved every second of his performance here, and at this point, he’s getting a place on my favorite artists list. I definitely want to hear more from him.
