I don’t know where artists like this are hiding, I mean I should have known this voice a long time ago. Kaitlin Corbett Jones only just landed on my radar with her new EP, but today I only want to talk about the title track, “Make The World Stand Still”. If someone told me this was just another random release floating around online, I honestly would not believe them after hearing it.
I really like the amount of care inside the song. Some artists put out music because they have to keep releasing things, but Kaitlin Corbett Jones sounds like someone who genuinely loves making music. That difference is easy to hear. The melodies are captivating and the lyrics are honest and strong.
Her performance carries the whole song in a big way. She knows exactly when to hold back and when to push harder and that balance kept me locked in the entire time. Her vocal range is seriously impressive. I can see why some friends compare her to bigger names because her voice has real power behind it, but she still sounds like herself. That matters more to me than trying to copy someone else’s style.
I also really liked the production and instrumentation. Everything supports her vocals perfectly. You can tell there was passion and attention behind every part of this release. I really loved this song, and I already know I’ll be keeping her on my radar because I would honestly love to write about her music again in the future.
