Hey hey everyone!! Every once in a while, a new artist comes across your radar and completely disrupts your playlist in the best way possible. Today, that artist for me is Elif Coskun. I just discovered her latest single “The Hardest Part” and immediately fell down a rabbit hole. After spending about an hour listening to the track and watching the music video, I found myself hitting the replay button on loop. There is something unique about her sound that catches you completely off guard.
She is a Spanish artist with a voice that pulls your attention from the first listen. There’s something honest about the way she delivers her lyrics and that made the song easy to stay connected to from beginning to end. The track moves through themes of memory, forgiveness and old emotions that never completely disappear. I liked how the writing handled those ideas without sounding dramatic.
The melodies are warm, the hook sticks around after the song ends and the instrumentation gives everything extra weight. There are small production details all over the track that made listening with headphones even better.
The sound design was handled really well. The production stays polished while still leaving space for Elif’s performance to carry the emotion of the song. The mixing is excellent, the mastering is excellentand everything sounds carefully placed together in a way that keeps the song smooth the whole time.
I enjoyed this release a lot. Between the song, the video and the songwriting itself, Elif Coskun left a strong impression on me and I already know she’s an artist I want to keep on my radar because I’ll probably be writing about her again soon.
