Seven Crows – Amanda on the Bed

Seven Crows already had my attention after “BOREAL”. I remember finishing that track and immediately hoping there was more coming from this project. So today, seeing a new album on the way honestly made my day a little better. I only spent time with the opening track today. “Amanda on the Bed” was enough to pull me back into Chris Murphy’s world again.

The track moves in a calm way without sounding empty. A lot of instrumental music loses me after a minute or two, but this one kept me locked in because the production keeps shifting quietly in the background. Small details sneak in and then disappear again. The instrumentation is pretty simple overall but what is special is that everything sits in the right place and gives the track a full sound.

I loved the quality of the recording here. Headphones on, house quiet, no kids running around – that is exactly how I want to hear this again later tonight. It has that kind of atmosphere where time slows down for a bit and you just sit there listening without checking your phone every thirty seconds.

If this track is the doorway into Powers of Observation (His second instrumental album), then I’m absolutely walking through it. Go check out his previous work too, and let me know if you want me to review the whole album next time.
