Canadian singer-songwriter Becca Stefanson just landed on my radar recently with her new single “How I Feel”. The song caught my attention in the best way because of how simple it is. The sound just settles into this soft mix of folk and pop and lets the melodies carry everything forward. I ended up replaying the chorus a few times. So don’t be surprised when you find yourself humming it by the next morning.
I really liked how honest the whole song sounds. Her voice has this raw emotion. And it works well with the lyrics about wanting something that feels out of reach. You can tell she focused more on telling the story instead of filling the song with extra production tricks. I liked that a lot.
The fingerpicked guitar and soft atmosphere give the song a calm mood. But the chorus keeps it memorable and catchy. That balance is probably my favorite part of the song. Her singing is easy to sit with. It’s just someone sounding real and connected to what they’re singing.
For someone this young, Becca Stefanson already sounds like an artist who knows her lane. I really think she could become one of those new names people suddenly start talking about everywhere a year from now. I’m definitely keeping an eye on whatever she releases next.
