Eleanor Murray is a talented artist whom I just discovered last week. Her new album “PLAY LOVE” pulled me in pretty fast because of her pure and charming voice. The opening track “Just Like This” was the moment that sold me on the whole album. There’s something direct and honest about the way she sings. It’s captivating and close to the listener. I kept replaying this song over and over.
The album carries the same emotional tone all the way through. The writing is honest in a way that reminded me of hearing someone talk late at night when they finally stop filtering their thoughts. A lot of artists aim for that kind of songwriting, but Eleanor actually makes it work because the melodies fit the words so well. The hooks, the verses, the pacing of her vocals – they all move together smoothly.
I really liked how simple the production is. Even with synths and layered sounds coming in, the album never turns messy. The instrumentals are well crafted and give her voice enough room to shine. You can tell a lot of care went into shaping these songs.
Eleanor Murray made something personal without making it hard to connect to. This is easily one of my favorite releases I’ve heard this year and she fully deserves a place on my favorite artists list.
