Billy Caveman – Ariel Cyclone

Billy Caveman just landed on my radar with his new single “Ariel Cyclone”. The track sounds like somebody locked themselves in a garage with loud amps and just kept recording until things got weird in a good way. The track has a dirty guitar sound, heavy drums and a rhythm that kept me hooked almost right away. I played it twice back to back because the hooks stayed stuck in my head for a while after it ended. It’s safe to say that this is one of my favorite tracks of this year.

The thing I liked most was all the small edits and effects buried in the song. There’s always something changing in the background. The throat singing part is my favorite. That could have gone wrong honestly, but it fits the track better than I expected.

The guitars have a great sound to them and the drums hit hard. I really like how nothing here sounds too clean or overworked. That’s probably why the song is easy to go back to. It has a nice energy and I love it.

I also think Billy Caveman has his own style already, which is hard to do now because so many rock songs blend together after a while. This one didn’t. This is honestly one of the more interesting independent rock releases I’ve heard lately and I’ll definitely be checking out whatever Billy drops next. Stay tuned.
