Sonic Rade – Berlin

Sonic Rade only showed up on my radar recently and I ended up spending more time with their album “Berlin”. It’s a 7-track album but trust me, it doesn’t drag or waste space. Every song adds something different while still carrying the same drive from beginning to end. By the third track, “The Awakenning” I already had a couple of choruses stuck in my head while walking around the house which usually tells me an album is doing something right.

The thing I liked most here was the energy behind the band. The guitars come in hard when they need to, the drums keep everything moving and the melodies stay memorable. There’s also a lot of character in the production. The album was recorded in Berlin at the old Hansa space which makes sense because the record has this roomy atmosphere around parts of it, especially when the band lets the instruments ring out for a moment before jumping back in.

I have to say that I liked the variety across the album. Some moments are more direct and punchy, while others slow things down just enough before the next chorus hits. Sonic Rade sounds confident as a band and you can hear years of playing together in the way everything locks in.

This was honestly a great discovery for me. This record kept me interested the whole way through and now I’m curious where this talented band goes next because this album was an amazing experience.
