Filip Dahl showed up on my radar again this week and I had to double check the name for a second. I remember writing about him back in 2024, so seeing his new single “Flying High” pop up felt a bit like running into someone you haven’t seen in a while.
This track sticks to what he does best. It’s a guitar driven instrumental that built like a slow blues-rock ballad and he handles everything himself. No vocals here, just the guitar carrying the whole story. And honestly, it works.
The tone is the first thing that caught me. It’s rich with enough weight to keep things interesting. Notes hang around just long enough and then move on before it gets dull. He keeps it simple and lets the guitar do the work. You can tell he’s comfortable playing like this. Just a skilled guitarist doing his thing and trusting the sound to speak. That’s what kept me listening!
I’ve always liked his work and this one reminded me why. He’s a talented guitarist and you can hear that in every part of the track. This is one of those tracks you put on when you want to step out for a few minutes. It’s just space, tone and a steady hand on the strings. I’m glad he’s back on my radar again.
