Captain Capone – Fantasy Land

It’s early in the morning and I had a great time listening to this record and want to share it with you. Captain Capone’s new album “Fantasy Land” is like stepping into a busy arcade where every machine is on at once, but somehow it all lines up. He brings a UK rap style that is grounded with a smooth delivery that sticks. Especially on “Overdose” and “Kumbaya”. Those tracks carry a catchy swing and his voice sits right in the pocket.

The production is great with vocal effects used just enough to shape the sound without covering him up. You can tell the beats were built around how he raps. The whole album runs on a concept of mixed worlds. Pulling from games, anime and some random references but it really works because he commits to it.

I like his writing style! He keeps things interesting. The flows are easy to remember and that helps the songs stay with me longer than I expected. I kept replaying some tracks just to catch small details I missed the first time.

It sounds like something I’d throw on my home studio speakers and let run all day. He’s got a great style and passion and it shows in how he moves through each track. This is a solid project with great writing and a sound that keeps pulling me back so I think I’ll be keeping it on repeat for a while. The transitions between songs also help it play like one long ride instead of a shuffle.
