Johnno Casson aka Snippet – Soft Lad

Johnno Casson aka Snippet just landed on my radar with this new album “Soft Lad”. I think this is one of my best picks of 2026. I put this album on late at night. Silence and lights off. Yes, I know, it’s a perfect setup for this kind of music. I didn’t skip anything.

Johnno Casson builds this album like a slow walk through his own head. It’s calm, a bit dark, but still melodic enough to keep you hooked. There are 15 tracks here and somehow it never drags. It moves steady, like each song is placed exactly where it should be.

I really love how simple everything is. The beats are perfect, the synths stay loose and the vocals carry most of the weight. His voice has this raw edge that pulls your attention right in. Especially on tracks like “You Played a Good Game”, “Sometimes I Fade” and “I Keep Running Away From Myself”. There’s a lot about dealing with yourself, pushing through rough patches and holding onto love as something solid.

The production is creative and has these small moments that stick. Little loops, odd sounds and things that feel slightly off but in a good way. It’s solid and gives the album character. Wow, it felt like I’d been sitting with it for hours without noticing the time. I’m honestly planning to leave this on repeat tonight!
