It’s late. Almost 12am and I ended up playing ExclusiveBoy D’s new album “Attention II Detail” all the way through without skipping. That says a lot already. I am new to this artist music, but I think I might be right on time because this is his first release of this year.
Do you want to know why his music work so well? Well, it’s soulful and leans into that smooth R&B sound design. The hooks were the first thing that stuck with me here. Yes, they’re simple, but they stay in your head longer than you expect. I found myself humming a couple of them without even thinking about it.
The whole record carries that 90s inspired sound. There is a kind of nostalgia here, but not in a forced way, just in how the melodies move and how the drums sit behind everything. It reminds me of older playlists I used to keep on repeat, but it still sounds fresh enough to me.
He has one of the greatest voices I’ve heard lately. He knows how to control it, when to push and when to pull back. The vocal deliveries are relaxed and catchy. He’s taking his time with every line. You can tell he actually cares about how it lands.
The lyrics here circle around taking things slow, getting to know someone properly, and treating them right. I enjoyed this a lot. It’s a solid release from someone who really knows his sound. I’m heading to sleep now, but I’m taking this album with me – might sound even better through my AirPods. Good night!
