Doug Mishkin just landed on my radar with his new release, “Tip of the Spear” a thoughtful and beautifully crafted folk album that blends meaningful storytelling with emotional honesty. Across its 12 songs, Mishkin showcases not only his rich and warm voice but also a deep connection to themes of justice, love, memory and legacy. Each song is wrapped in gentle melodies that are easy to listen to yet strikingly profound and holding your attention from start to finish. His songwriting feels personal and genuine, with lyrics that linger long after the music stops. There is a great level of songwriting that shines up through this album and I really love that.
The production is polished yet keeps a natural and organic feel. It’s rich in tone but never overdone. His vocal technique and delivery are both strong and deeply moving. What stands out most is the heart behind every song. As someone who loves when music feels real and meaningful, I truly respect Mishkin’s work. This album was made with passion and care and I genuinely can’t wait to hear what he creates next.
