Exzenya is back with a new single and by now many of us will recognise the sound that has become her own. “B!tch Please” gives her another chance to have some fun with it. This time, she leans into blues-rock, bringing a steady mid-tempo rhythm and a story about betrayal that takes an unexpected turn. The woman at the centre of the song is not pleading with the person who slept with her husband. She sees the situation for what it is and realises she has been set free from a man who would likely have treated someone else the same way. Exzenya gives that story so much attitude, but there is also a clear sense of relief behind it.
I loved listening to this track. Her vocal delivery has that distinctive edge I’ve come to enjoy and the writing gives the chorus a hook that stays with you. I liked the creative use of vocal effects. They add unique character to the performance and the steady rhythm keeps the song moving. The instrumental is carefully put together and the production quality is impressive without taking attention away from the story.
Exzenya has made another song that was a real pleasure to spend time with. I enjoyed her sound, her writing and the attitude she brings here. I’m already looking forward to hearing what she has next.
