Charlie’s Hand Movements – Somethingism

Charlie’s Hand Movements are a recent discovery for me and their new album “Somethingism” is my first listen to their music. After spending the day with this 11 track album, I’m super happy I found them. Their mix of psych-pop and art rock has won me over and I can already see myself coming back to this record.

“W D E K O” is the opener that kept me listening. It’s catchy and easy to get into with soft melodies, guitars and drums that give the track so much to enjoy. The chorus is amazing and will get stuck in your head after your first listen. I really loved this one.

“Slowly” takes a gentler route. The delivery is smooth, the melodies are captivating and there’s a warmth to the song that makes it an easy listen. The vocals suit it so well and I could happily spend more time with this track.

Then “White Noise” brings a rougher edge. It sounds raw and unpolished in a good way, with lively energy and smart production choices. The sound design gives the track so much character and it’s another reminder that this band knows how to keep an album interesting.

I’ve enjoyed hearing how these songs move between softer moments and noisier ones. The production is creative and handled well, the instrumental choices work, and the songwriting deserves credit too. Honestly, I could keep naming details, but I think it’s time you hit play, my friend. Give this release a proper listen. This album has made me a fan and I’m excited to hear what Charlie’s Hand Movements do next.
