Briar City is a new name on my radar and with this new single “Armageddon” I’m excited to share what Sean Francis is doing with this project. There’s so much energy here and it grabbed my attention from the first few seconds.
The song takes a breakup story inspired by the 2023 “Scandoval” drama and gives it a sharp pop-punk edge. Distorted guitars, programmed drums, and glossy production give this amazing track a modern sound, while the hyperpop touches add another layer. I liked the sound design here. Everything is mixed well and the production has enough movement to keep the track interesting from start to end.
Francis is a talented vocalist. I enjoyed listening to the way he delivers the lyrics, especially because there’s personality in his performance. The melodies are catchy and the whole track is easy to listen to. That matters to me because some songs can have so much going on and still lose me somewhere along the way. This one kept me with it.
I like the direction Briar City is taking. You can hear the pop-punk background, but this project is not simply repeating an old sound. There’s a push toward modern pop, and I think that works really well here, too. So, after listening to this amazing track, I’m definitely excited about what comes next. I loved the energy, the vocals, the melodies, and the production too and I can honestly say this is a project I’ll personally be keeping an eye on.
