Paul Garside – That There Is Our Problem

It’s evening now, and I wanted to share what I’ve been listening to through the day. Paul Garside’s new single, “That There Is Our Problem”. It’s one of those songs I enjoyed from start to finish and there’s a lot going on without the track becoming difficult to follow.

Paul has a smooth vocal delivery that suits the storytelling well. His voice has a nice character and he sings with a great sense of care. The writing is also a strong part of the track. The story behind it is dark, based on a man becoming jealous of God after his partner told him that her love for God was greater than her love for him. That idea could easily become too heavy, but Paul keeps it focused inside the song.

The instrumentation is where I kept finding little things to enjoy. His acoustic guitar gives the song its base, while Niilo Sirola’s banjo and Irish bouzouki add a nice touch to the arrangement. I also liked how the instruments support the vocals The song stayed with me after listening. I enjoyed this one a lot. His passion for his music is impressive and there’s something honest in the way he tells such a unique story. This one is a great listen and a song I’ll happily play again.
