Reetoxa never seems interested in letting things stay in one place and his song “Demand Perfection” proves that again. This song has a completely different vibe from the one I covered yesterday, which I really like because it shows another side of what Jason McKee can do.
The sound design caught my attention pretty quickly. The guitar work is a big part of the track for me, but I also loved how the instrumentation comes together around his voice. There is a lot going on, yet it stays easy to follow. Jason has a rich voice and one thing I enjoy about his performance is how smoothly he can move between different styles and sounds. His delivery here is confident and the hook got stuck in my head after a few listens.
There is also an interesting idea behind the song. It looks at dating culture and the pressure around money, status, looks and having everything just right. That gives the writing something to say without taking away from the fun side of the track. Reetoxa sounds like a professional who knows his craft and keeps finding new ways to use it. I get the sense that Jason is building a whole world around this project, rather than simply putting songs out one after another. That change is why I keep listening closely. I’m happy I was invited to experience his music and this one made me even more excited about where he goes next.
