Finding an instrumental piece like this doesn’t happen every day. It honestly feels like discovering a hidden gem and I’m glad I came across Dylan Jones’ new single “Familiar Disturbance” because it’s the kind of release I want to tell people about.
The track says a lot without using any words. It moves at its own pace and lets every instrument have its place. The piano immediately caught my attention, but it didn’t stop there. The sax brings something different, the guitar adds so much to the journey and every little element works together to shape the sound. I enjoyed it so much!
The mixing deserves credit too. I really like how everything is balanced, smooth and easy to follow, making the whole piece flow from beginning to end. Dylan really knows how to build an instrumental that keeps your interest without relying on big moments or extra tricks. Since this track comes from his new album “Statue” which tells his own musical story, that personal approach comes across in the way the music unfolds.
I spent the whole track paying attention to the small details because there was always something new to notice. That’s not something I can say about every instrumental release I hear. This is a perfect jazz piece. I loved the sound, I enjoyed every minute of it and it’s another reminder that great music doesn’t always need lyrics to leave a lasting impression. Dylan Jones created something I’ll happily play again.
