I always enjoy artists who just grab the mic and rap with confidence, a smooth flow and lyrics that actually keep me listening. That’s what I got from Ray Gibbz and his new single “Royal Ruby”. It doesn’t waste time trying to be something else. It just lets the music speak.

The first thing that caught me was his delivery. It’s smooth, confident and easy to follow from start to finish. His voice fits the beat really well and the flow never loses its rhythm. I also liked that the lyrics tell a story instead of going down the usual road. The idea of searching for an ancient royal ruby connected to his heritage gave the track its own identity without taking away from the rap itself. The production is put together well and you can tell time was spent getting it right. The mixing sounds clear, the mastering gives it a solid finish and the instrumental sits behind his vocals exactly how it should. Nothing fights for attention, so every verse lands the way it’s meant to.

I had a good time with this one because it stays focused on the music. There aren’t any unnecessary tricks or distractions, just a rapper doing what he does best. That’s enough for me. I like Ray Gibbz’s sound and the way he approaches his music and after hearing this song, I’m already excited to hear where he goes next. I’ll definitely be checking out his future releases.
